Delta Trust & UALR Students Attend Buffett’s BRK Meeting

Every year Delta Trust, along with three of UALR’s brightest economic or finance students, heads north to hear the Oracle of Omaha, Mr. Warren Buffett. This trip is part of an independent study program that teaches the investment philosophy of Warren Buffett, analyzes the history and success of Berkshire Hathaway and ultimately concludes with a trip to the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholder meeting. This year, Jessica James, James Rutherford and David Snowden were the three impressive students selected for this program. Click here to learn more about the students and our partnership with UALR. James Rutherford wrote a weekend roundup for Talk Business here.

The weekend began with a special distinguished author reception where you could purchase your favorite Buffett books. Here the students met Barnett Helzberg Jr. of Helzberg Diamonds and author of What I Learned Before I Sold to Warren Buffett.

Everyone then went to enjoy one of Warren’s favorite restaurants, Piccolo Pete’s.

Our dinner group at Piccolo’s.

Saturday morning starts early! We with 35,000 other Buffett enthusiasts arrive at 7 a.m. to take our seats.

The meeting also allows for a lot of shopping time! Warren takes advantage of having the attention of thousands and makes sure they all stimulate his earnings! Companies pull out all the stops to showcase their products. Here’s a cool Brooks running shoes exhibit.

Geico is there selling insurance policies like crazy, but you can’t miss a chance to take a pic with the “weeeeee” pig!

You can’t forget your own Justin’s Berkshire boots!

After a long day of meetings and shopping, we concluded the day with another great dinner at Gorat’s, an Omaha staple.

And a BRK trip isn’t complete without the obligatory photo with the Warren and Charlie cutouts!

Delta Trust is so proud of our partnership with UALR and being able to offer these student an unforgettable experience! Click here to watch an interview with the students the morning before we left.
