We designed several creative options to add a little variety to the campaign but the overall concept remains the same – it’s safer and more convenient to receive your statements as an email than stolen by your neighbor’s pup!

The weekend began with a special distinguished author reception where you could purchase your favorite Buffett books. Here the students met Barnett Helzberg Jr. of Helzberg Diamonds and author of What I Learned Before I Sold to Warren Buffett.

Everyone then went to enjoy one of Warren’s favorite restaurants, Piccolo Pete’s.

Saturday morning starts early! We with 35,000 other Buffett enthusiasts arrive at 7 a.m. to take our seats.

The meeting also allows for a lot of shopping time! Warren takes advantage of having the attention of thousands and makes sure they all stimulate his earnings! Companies pull out all the stops to showcase their products. Here’s a cool Brooks running shoes exhibit.

Geico is there selling insurance policies like crazy, but you can’t miss a chance to take a pic with the “weeeeee” pig!

You can’t forget your own Justin’s Berkshire boots!

After a long day of meetings and shopping, we concluded the day with another great dinner at Gorat’s, an Omaha staple.

And a BRK trip isn’t complete without the obligatory photo with the Warren and Charlie cutouts!

Equity returns of the major regions continue to differentiate from each other – with U.S. Equities up 9.6%, Developed ex-U.S. Equities up only 3.8% and Emerging Market Equities down 3.4%. Most developed markets continue to experience highly accommodative monetary policies. We continue to overweight asset classes leveraged to those economies displaying more normal cyclical economic patterns at the expense of those going through longer-term restructuring. Emerging Market Equities and Natural Resources had negative near term impacts due to Japan’s newfound monetary accommodations affecting competitiveness, although this should ultimately be a positive for the region. We do have some concerns about the rising debt levels in China and Brazil, but we remain overweight Emerging Markets due to longer term growth and attractive comparable valuation. We also continue to overweight higher income generating asset classes at the expense of lower generating asset classes supported by the high liquidity and low short term rates of central banks globally.

On April 2nd, we eliminated most of our gold position. This is based on the belief that the market and growth environment have normalized sufficiently such that the tactical allocation to Gold was no longer needed.
