Individual Retirement Accounts
When it comes to individual retirement planning, an IRA is still one of the best tools for accumulating and investing your savings. An IRA allows individuals to direct pretax income, up to specific annual limits, toward investments that can grow tax-deferred.
While we do not provide tax advice, we do have the ability to walk you through all of your IRA options and help you select appropriate investments that will help your retirement account grow.
Individual taxpayers are allowed to contribute 100% of compensation up to a specified maximum dollar amount into a traditional IRA. Contributions to your traditional IRA may be tax-deductible depending on your income, tax-filing status and other factors. Eventual withdrawals from a traditional IRA are taxed as ordinary income.
Roth IRAs are an alternative retirement savings vehicle to a traditional IRA. Contributions made to Roth IRAs are not tax deductible, but unlike the traditional IRA, eligible distributions made from Roth IRAs are tax-free. Under certain circumstances, it makes sense to convert your traditional IRA into a Roth IRA.
IRAs are held by custodians, such as commercial banks and brokerage firms. IRA funds can be invested in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and other financial assets deemed eligible under the regulations.
Combined with potential tax savings at the time of contribution, IRAs can prove to be very valuable tax management tools for individuals. Depending on income, an individual may be able to enjoy a lower tax bracket through tax-deductible contributions during his or her working years while still enjoying a low tax bracket during retirement.
